Yeah, Yeah. I'm FINALLY doing another one of these suckers.

So, the theme for November is Glam... (Sha-weet) What could represent Glitter Glam better than David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust. Oh, how I love him.

So, here I am. All Ziggy Stardust-esque.

I'm not so sure of how this one turned out, but I am pretty darn sure that I've never worn so much makeup in my life. Breakouts here I come.

I certainly had alot of fun taking this pic though... Something about being *almost* androgenous liberated me.

Or, maybe my dad is right, and I'm just a big geek.

In any case, I can't deny that I pretty much rock.

In 1st grade, during reading time (you know, when the whole class would read together but only one kid at a time) I used to correct all the little kids for saying stuff wrong, and criticize them for reading too slowly. The teacher had to put me and another little girl in a reading group by ourselves because we made the other kids feel bad about themselves. I was a jerk!
28. In 7th grade, Crystalyn made fun of me, behind my back, because I had this really cool Mickey Mouse backpack. (Evidently it was too juvenile for Jr. High). Meanwhile, I thought I finally had a friend, because she was nice to me . . . until I wasn't around. I still don't let her live that down!
29. In 9th grade, my friends and I all auditioned for Bugsy Malone, and I was the only one who didn't make it. So I had to be the costumer instead. The whole time, I was wishing that they would have some terrible 'wardrobe malfunction'. Yeah, I was bitter.
30. I hate shaving my legs. It's such a waste of time, but I do it anyway. Why does hair even grow there in the first place???

Old Hollywood

Clara Bow. She was the "It" girl of the 1920s. She was like America's first sex symbol. See her movie 'It'
Greta Garbo. (1930s). She was so great! And incredibly beautiful. Her portrayal of Anna Karenina in 1935 was amazing. My favorite quote of hers is:"I never said, 'I want to be alone.' I only said, 'I want to be left alone.' There is all the difference in the world."
Bette Davis. (1930s). So many songs have been written about her. Ever heard of Bette Davis Eyes? Yup. She's a beauty. And one of the greatest dancers of all time.
Jean Harlow. (1930s). The original blonde bombsell. Marilyn patterned alot of her signature 'pouty looks' off of early Jean Harlow films. Just so you know.
Joan Crawford (1930s). Back when she was beautiful. I wish America remembered her like this. Look at how gorgeous she was!
Alice White. (1930s). She used to tour with the original Vaudeville company. How cool is that? Amazing!!!
Liz Taylor. (1940s). One of the most beautiful women of this century, and the last great actress to come out of Old Hollywood.
Hedy Lamarr. (1940s). She turned down the lead role in Casablance when they offered it to her. I was so upset when I learned that, because she is AMAZING! See her film "White Cargo." Her quote: "Any girl can be glamorous. All you have to do is stand still and look stupid."
Lauren Bacall. (1940s). She married Humphrey Bogart in 1945, when she was just 20 years old, and stayed with him until 1957, when he died of throat cancer. I wish actresses today were as loyal. Her quote: "Find me a man who's interesting enough to have dinner with and I'll be happy."
Ginger Rogers. They patterned the movie star, "Ginger Grant" (from Gilligan's Island) After Ginger Rogers and Cary Grant, two of Hollywood's greatest personalities. Audrey Hepburn. (1950s). I can't say enough about her. She is the BEST acress of all time. Movies like "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "Roman Holiday", "Funny Face", "Sabrina", and "Wait Until Dark" attest to that. I am so sad that I never got to meet her. She died in 1993. Her quote: "I was born with an enormous need for affection, and a terrible need to give it."
Shirley MacLaine. (1950s). She was so beautiful. I'm very frustrated that she spent all those years smoking, which wrecked her looks, and her amazing voice.

Late night blog.

I posted this forever ago, (ie: June 19, 2006) But, I'm deleting the site it was on, so . . .I posted it on here, because I want to keep it. the end. -ks

So, it's late. and i'm up. Eating burritos (yum).
I can't really sleep. I'm not tired, at all! I guess I've got alot of things on my mind. Okay, so not really alot of things, just one thing. Edwin. I think about him too much. It's so weird, because I really miss him, but I still see him alot. I mean, we do stuff together, we hang out . . but it's just not the same, you know? I don't know.
He's been hanging out with Dani Black alot, and man, do I love her - but I'm beginning to feel a little threatened. I told my mom that I felt like she was swooping in on my territory, and she just laughed at me. I don't know why I'm getting really possesive of him all the sudden.
I just realized that he has a myspace, and will probably be reading this. Oops. Oh well. Hey Ed. don't get all weirded out by this - just spilling some thoughts that need to get out of my head.
Anyway, I just feel really weird about the whole situation. I didn't want to end things with him. But he chose to, and I guess that if it makes him happy, and if I really care about him, then I should be willing to do whatever makes him comfortable. But I don't like not being with him. So, consequently, I begin to think that maybe I don't care about him as much as I think I do, which is absolutely not true, I just want him to be happy, AND me to be happy. Why does one person's happiness always have to affect another's? That's what I think is screwed up.
I still haven't stopped crying about it since my birthday [for those of you not 'in the know', that's when he broke up with me. Messed up, Ed :) ]. I told him that I still cried, and he said he was really sorry, and he sounded genuinely sorry, so that made me feel a little better.
I just hope he did it because of the upcoming mission, and stuff. And not because he secretly thinks I'm some sort of a stalker-creepy-guy. (well, I guess there was that one time. . . . JUST JOKIN')
Anyway, so that's my thoughts on Ed. If any of you are still reading by this point and want to add some input, feel free.
Also, try not to mock me too much, but a little is okay.

Sucks?

I can't figure this out. and by this, I mean LIFE. I mean, what is it that I am supposed to be doing here in the first place. I feel like I have no purpose, that I'm just wasting time until I die. Wow, what a contrast this is to the last blog I wrote.

I think he got sick of me. For some reason things aren't going well for him, and so he called it off. I don't know why I let myself get hurt so easily. We weren't even together for all that long, and it still hurts. I'm fine with not being his girlfriend, whatever. It's just a title anyway, right? The thing that sucks is, I couldn't make him happy. WHY? What is wrong with me that I can't seem to function right the second I get into a relationship. I'm always worried about making a fool of myself.

But, the second I'm not IN a relationship, I feel worthless. Like there must be something wrong with me. All of my friends will have boyfriends, etc, etc, so . . .why don't I? Am I not as pretty as they are? Am I not smart enough? I HATE feeling this way, and yet, I let it happen with every single thing that doensn't turn out the way I want it to.

I miss being young and carefree. I'm still young, yes, but I think I worry too much about things.

Like this whole blog. So I'm not his girlfriend anymore, GET OVER IT!! It's not the end of the world, WHY is it so hard for me to convince myself of that? UGH! I wish I could express myself the way I used to, but I seem to be in some sort ofd analytical-expressive-communicating rut lately.

Anyway.

Ah, the joys of new Love.

I don't even know what to say. My life is going so well right now. I love this feeling.

Finally I've met a guy that knows how to treat a lady. I'm so utterly extatic. I feel like I could just float on air. You know that feeling with new relationships? Ugh! It's nice.

I'm just afraid all the newness will wear off and he'll get sick of me. Blah.

But for now, I'm ultracontent.

Couldn't ask for a better person to spend my days with.

I guess this song is speaking to me, because Edwin is leaving to Brazil soon, and I'm really going to miss him alot. And it sucks. And I don't know why I should be missing him already when he hasn't even left yet. THIS WHOLE THING SUCKS, and mostly because I don't know why I can't just get over it and move on. That's what I want most right now. Not to be back with him, (even though it would be nice) I just want to be okay with it!

Nursery, at it's finest. . .

You know, for the longest time, I hated working in the nursery, with a passion. But it's days like today, that I realize nursery really doesn't suck, and the kids I work with are absolutely adorable. I took my digital camera to church today, to have something to entertain the kids with, and decided to put them in my blog. Here we go:

1) Lucy. She is the funniest little girl I've ever met in my life. If ever I had to leave the Nursery, I would put Lucy in charge. She always makes sure that everyone is doing what they are supposed to. It's great! Every week that I've worked in the Nursery, she asks me what I have in my mouth. "Braces," I tell her. "They make my teeth straight." "Take 'em off," she says. "I can't Lucy, they're stuck on there." "I can get them off" (as she reaches her slimy little hands into my mouth.) Every week we've had this conversation. And every single week, I get slimed by her hands. Not so fun, but I love her anyway.

2) Josie. She's always really quiet, unless you get her talking about something she loves. This week she was talking about all the fireworks they saw. She cries for her mom alot, and it gets pretty frustrating. Other than that, I don't have too much to say about her. I don't have a really strong connection with her yet. She's one of the little kids that kind of scare me.

3) Gavin. Some days this little guy can be so funny, and other times I just want to smack him. One week, he told me he hated the church and Jesus, and when I told him that wasn't nice to say, he said he hated me, and hit the little girl next to him (Arianna). When I told him he had to go sit in the corner for hitting, he stole all the other childrens' playdough and threw it against the wall, then he BIT ME! Yeah. I was so pissed. GRRR!!! Another week, he said he had to go to the bathroom, but we didn't quite make it in time, and he peed on me. Gotta love the nursery. Today was a good day for Gavin, though. He ran around most of the day with a little blue bucket on his head, and would cry if we didn't call him "Bucket-Head." Kids are wierd.

4) Arianna. I have never seen this little girl cry, or be angry. Until today. She was sitting in the fetal position under the slide, and quietly crying. I poked my head under and asked her what was wrong. And she said she missed her mom. I said, "Come out and play with the other kids and be happy" and she just smiled and said, "okay". And that was the end of it! She is so cute. The first thing she ever said to me was "ROCK ON, DUDE!" (and she had her hand held up in the Slayer sign, you know . . . ) I laughed so hard.

5) Jessie. She is just like Lucy. She always wants to be in charge of everything, especially singing time. I swear she knows every single song in the Primary Songbook. And if she thinks we're singing to slow or too fast, she'll make everyone stop singing, and start over at the pace she sets. The best is when we sing a song she doesn't like. She just starts yelling (not singing) a different song, and all the other little kids start to yell too . . .it's great. That kid is like, the Song Nazi. She's so funny.

6)Hayley. She has the most beautiful brown eyes I have even seen. And the longest eyelashes. She is going to break some hearts one day. Every Sunday, she asks me if I'm a mommy, and where my mommy is, and what my mommy's name is. She is OBSESSED with moms. One Sunday, out of nowhere she said, "I'm going to marry Jackson everyone!" and went on to detail the rings and necklaces and flowers he would give her . . . high maitenance! She is really a sweetheart though. I'm her favorite teacher. She cried today because another lady in the ward tried to take her to the bathroom . . She only wanted me to go with her. That made me feel good.

7) Chelsea. She is so scared of all the other kids. And she always has her hands in her mouth. She really opens up, once she gets away from all the older kids, and she says the funniest things. Today, she told us all about how her dad snores. But if everyone is around, she usually just crawls under the big desk and takes a nap. I wish I could do that during church. . . no such luck.

8) Chloe. Anytime a mom leaves the nursery, and her child will start crying, Chloe cries right along with them. She is so cute because her lips kind of stick out, and it reminds me of a little duck bill. It is SO FUNNY. The little dresses that she wears are all too long for her, and she trips over them all the time. But everytime she does, she just laughs, and hops right back up. Today she smacked her face into a chair, really hard, but she just laughed it off. I was really surprised by that.

9) James. He's my favorite of the younger kids. He's so talkative, and he'll tell you anything. His favorite thing to say is 'bacuum' (like vacuum, but he can't say it right) so we always have to let James vacuum up the nursery. Every Sunday when his dad comes to pick him up, he runs over to me a gives me a big hug and says, "lub you." It's the cutest thing EVER. I love it. And he always wants me to play dinosaurs with him. It rocks. Today, his "sewa-tops" killed my "lophus"
(a triceratops, and a parasaurolophus.) He's such a smart little kid.

Anyway, there are more little kids in the nursery that I absolutely LOVE. But alot of them weren't here this week, and the others were scared of my camera, and didn't want their pictures taken. So, yes. That is what I do, every week at church. Better than being in Relief Society with all the old crying women.

Self Portrait Challenge #1

I decided to try this new thing.
I joined a blogging photography challenge.
I don't know how it will turn out.
I'm kind of frightened.
I don't even know if I'm doing it right, OH WELL!
. . . we'll see.

the self portrait challenge for the month of july is "myself as . . ."i decided to photograph myself as a pianist. i love playing the piano. plain and simple. it relaxes me, it makes me feel accomplished, it puts me in my own world when this one becomes too much to handle. when i'm sitting at the piano, a whole world of opportunity opens up to me, and i get to escape for a while. it has become so much a part of me, that sometimes, if i'm at work . . . and i'm really bored, my fingers will independantly begin playing "Konstantine" by Something Corporate, or maybe even "Tocatta and Fugue in D minor" by Bach.

my absolute favorite thing about the piano is, i can always express myself. if i'm angry, i'll sit down and play, i don't know, "Alla Turca" by Mozart. if i'm feeling a little depressed or lonely, i'll pull out "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane.

playing the piano is a really great way to get away from life. i gues it's just like . . .if i just keep my fingers moving, if i just keep playing, then none of my problems can get to me. That sounds really cliche, but i don't care.

to me, music is really another language that speaks to and touches EVERYONE. It makes expressing things so much easier, and by playing the piano, not only do i get to hear the music, but i get to create it as well.

. . . and that's why i love it so much.

Two words. . .

. . .Bra flying. Yup.
That's what yesterday consisted of.
That, and eating
13 popsicles.
(You know, the kind where there's
actually two popsicles, and you have to
break them apart.
Yeah, I ate 13 of those.)
